wear
Have on body
The verb wear usually takes an item of clothing as its object and is used to describe the state of being dressed in that item of clothing: What are you going to wear? I’m wearing a tux.
Some items worn are not garments, but the same verb is used because they adorn or protect the body: wear a badge, wear a seatbelt.
If you wear an expression, such as a smile, you are displaying it.
When something other than a human is the subject, wear has different meanings.
Something that wears off loses its effectiveness or appeal.
Something that wears out becomes unusable through fatigue or overuse.
The noun wear can describe the process of deterioration through use, or in combination, a particular kind of clothing, such as outerwear.
