hydrodynamics

Fluid flow science

Hydrodynamics is the branch of physics concerned with fluids in motion—how liquids and gases flow, what forces act on objects moving through them, and how pressure and velocity relate.

The field underlies ship design, pipeline engineering, and aerodynamics (its counterpart for air).

The hydrodynamics of the hull made the boat exceptionally fast.
