impellers

Rotating fluid movers

Impellers are rotating components with blades or vanes that move fluids by spinning inside a housing.

Found in pumps, jet engines, and similar machinery, they work by accelerating liquid or gas outward from their center, creating flow or pressure.

The design distinguishes them from propellers, which push fluid in a more linear direction; impellers typically operate within an enclosed space and force fluid radially.

The boat's water jet uses an impeller rather than an exposed propeller.
