Shavuot
Torah-receiving commemoration day
Shavuot is a Jewish holiday commemorating the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, celebrated seven weeks after Passover.
The name means "weeks" in Hebrew.
Also called the Festival of Weeks or Pentecost, it traditionally involves all-night Torah study, reading the Book of Ruth, and eating dairy foods.
We stayed up studying until dawn on Shavuot.
