challah

Braided Jewish bread

Challah is a braided Jewish bread, typically enriched with eggs and slightly sweet, traditionally eaten on Shabbat and holidays.

The distinctive braided shape and golden, glossy crust come from an egg wash applied before baking.

We tore off pieces of challah and dipped them in honey for Rosh Hashanah.
