sabbath day
Weekly worship day
The sabbath day is a day of rest and religious observance, occurring weekly in Judaism (Saturday) and Christianity (Sunday).
The phrase is somewhat redundant since sabbath already means "day of rest," but appears in religious texts and formal contexts: Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Often shortened to simply sabbath.
