Pentecost

Apostles received flames

Pentecost is a Christian festival commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter.

The name comes from the Greek word for "fiftieth," marking fifty days after Passover in the Jewish calendar.

In some traditions, Pentecost is called Whitsunday.

Pentecostal Christianity emphasizes gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues.
