vision

Eyes at work

Vision is the faculty of sight—the ability to see.

It extends to what is seen, especially something imagined or supernatural: She had a vision of her dead grandmother.

Vision also means foresight or the ability to plan wisely for the future: a leader with vision, a vision for the company.

Someone's vision of something is their particular conception of it: his vision of a just society.

As a modifier, vision suggests idealized seeing: vision board, vision quest.
