Delphi
Ancient prophetic sanctuary
Delphi was an ancient Greek sanctuary and oracle site on Mount Parnassus, where a priestess called the Pythia delivered prophecies from the god Apollo.
The oracle's pronouncements were famously cryptic, requiring interpretation.
In modern usage, Delphi appears in Delphi method or Delphi technique—a forecasting approach that gathers expert opinions through successive rounds of anonymous questionnaires, seeking consensus like ancient Greeks seeking wisdom from the oracle.
