agora
Athenian public space
An agora is a public gathering place or marketplace, especially in ancient Greek cities.
The term extends to any open forum for assembly or exchange of ideas: The internet has become a global agora for political debate.
In modern usage, agora sometimes describes outdoor markets or public squares. (Capitalized Agora typically refers to the specific ancient marketplace in Athens.)
