Pythian Games
Apollo's athletic festival
The Pythian Games were one of the four Panhellenic athletic festivals of ancient Greece, held every four years at Delphi in honor of Apollo.
Second in prestige only to the Olympic Games, they included athletic competitions alongside musical and poetic contests befitting the god of art and prophecy.
Winners received laurel wreaths from the sacred grove.
