temple
Forehead's flat side
A temple is a building designed for worship; it has specific denotation in the context of different religions and so may be roughly synonymous with synagogue, church, or Hindu temple.
In Mormonism, a temple is for the administering of sacred ordinances.
In London, the Temple is a group of buildings where barristers have their offices.
Completely apart from these words with religious connotation, a separately derived word temple denotes the flat space to the side of the forehead in humans and in some other animals.
The part of eyeglasses that extends from the lens and secures them to the head is also called a temple.
