bronze
Third-place medal material
Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin with a dark gold color, frequently used in statuary.
In rankings in which metals represent values, it is usually third, behind gold and silver: The Olympian was awarded the bronze medal in figure skating.
Bronze is also popular as a verb and adjective to describe fair people’s skin that is agreeably tanned.
The Bronze Age was a period of antiquity (~4000 to 3000 BCE) when people used bronze widely.
To bronze something is to give it the color or appearance of bronze.
