tree
Has bark, leaves
The woody, towering plants we call trees inspire most of the other things we call tree because they share a characteristic branching, fractal shape.
A family tree, for example, may show a pair of ancestors and their many descendants branching off from successive offspring.
Anything that bears internal relationships analogous to this kind of inheritance an be called a tree.
A tree diagram is one represented as originating at a single node and branching out multiply from there, as branches and twigs do from a trunk.
