clear-cutting
Total timber removal
Clear-cutting is the logging practice of removing all trees from an area at once, rather than selectively harvesting some while leaving others.
The method is efficient and economical but controversial for its environmental impact—destroying wildlife habitat, causing erosion, and leaving landscapes barren.
The hillside was scarred by clear-cutting.
Also called clearcutting.
