treeing

Forcing into branches

Treeing is the act of chasing an animal up a tree, particularly in hunting with dogs: The hounds were treeing a raccoon.

Coonhounds and other hunting breeds are prized for their treeing ability—cornering prey and barking to alert the hunter.

The term extends to any situation where someone or something is cornered or trapped in an elevated position.
