kraken
Mythical ship-crusher
A kraken is a legendary sea monster of Scandinavian origin, typically depicted as a giant squid or octopus capable of dragging ships to their doom.
The word has become shorthand for any enormous, tentacled creature lurking in ocean depths: Release the kraken!
In modern usage, kraken often describes something massive and threatening, or appears as a name for sports teams, products, and fictional beasts.
