intertidal zone
Between tide lines
The intertidal zone is the coastal area between high and low tide marks—underwater at high tide, exposed at low tide.
This strip of shoreline hosts organisms adapted to both aquatic and terrestrial conditions: tide pools, barnacles, mussels, seaweed.
We found starfish and anemones exploring the intertidal zone at dawn.
