pole
Magnet's terminal point
Pole is three words.
One pole is a long cylindrical object, sometimes planted in the ground, that serves some purpose (flag pole, fishing pole, utility pole).
A second pole designates either of two complementary parts, like the North Pole and the South Pole, or the two poles, positive and negative, of a magnet.
If people or things are poles apart they are in conflict.
The third Pole, capitalized, denotes a person of Polish descent.
