temperate zone
Between tropics, poles
The temperate zones are the regions of Earth between the tropics and the polar circles, characterized by moderate climates with distinct seasons.
Most definitions recognize two: the North Temperate Zone between the Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle, and the South Temperate Zone between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Antarctic Circle.
Most of Europe lies within the temperate zone.
