sprinter
Brief distance racer
A sprinter is someone who runs short distances at maximum speed—typically 100, 200, or 400 meters in track and field.
The term extends to anyone or anything built for bursts of speed rather than endurance: She's more of a sprinter than a marathon runner.
In cycling, sprinters specialize in explosive finishes.
