platform
Where trains stop
A platform is a raised, flat surface—something you can stand on that elevates you above your surroundings: a train platform, a diving platform, a stage.
The meaning extends to any base that supports activity: a political platform is a set of positions from which a candidate operates; a computing platform is the underlying system on which software runs.
In contemporary usage, platform often refers to digital services that host content or facilitate transactions: Twitter is a social media platform, We sell through multiple e-commerce platforms.
Platform shoes have thick soles that elevate the wearer.
