couplet
Two-line verse unit
A couplet is a pair of successive lines of verse, usually rhyming and of the same length: The poem ends with a memorable couplet.
Shakespeare's sonnets conclude with rhyming couplets that often deliver a final turn of thought.
The term extends loosely to any pair of things that go together.
