rhyme

Poetry's sonic echo

Rhyme is the matching of sounds at the ends of words or lines—*cat* and *hat*, *moon* and *June*.

Poetry traditionally relies on rhyme schemes, though modern verse often doesn't.

Rhyme extends to the poems themselves: nursery rhymes, children's rhymes.

The phrase without rhyme or reason means without logic or sense.

To rhyme is to form such sound matches: Does "orange" rhyme with anything?
