Cyrillic

Moscow's writing system

Cyrillic is the alphabet used to write Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian, and other Slavic languages, as well as some non-Slavic languages of the former Soviet Union.

Named after the Byzantine missionary Saint Cyril, who helped create an early Slavic writing system.

The script uses letters that partly resemble Greek and Latin characters but with distinct forms: The sign was written in Cyrillic.
