Latin script
ABC writing system
Latin script is the writing system that uses the alphabet originating from ancient Rome, now the most widely used alphabetic system in the world.
It forms the basis for writing English, Spanish, French, German, and hundreds of other languages, with various letters added or modified to accommodate different sounds.
The term distinguishes this alphabet from others like Cyrillic, Arabic, or Chinese characters.
Turkish switched from Arabic to Latin script in 1928.
