scroll

Wound parchment document

A scroll is a roll of paper or parchment with writing on it, the form books took before bound pages.

To scroll is to move through content that extends beyond what's visible—originally by unrolling, now by sliding text up or down a screen: I scrolled through my feed for an hour.

Decorative scrolls are spiral or curling shapes resembling rolled paper.
