Rumi

Rumi was a thirteenth-century Persian poet and Sufi mystic, born in present-day Afghanistan.

His poetry explores divine love, spiritual longing, and union with God, often through ecstatic verse and parables.

Rumi founded the Mevlevi Order, whose practitioners are known as whirling dervishes.

His works, especially the *Masnavi*, remain widely read and quoted: as Rumi said, "The wound is the place where the Light enters you".
