falconry

Hunting with birds

Falconry is the practice of hunting with trained birds of prey—typically falcons, hawks, or eagles.

The falconer trains the bird to pursue game and return to the glove.

Once a practical hunting method, falconry is now primarily a sport and cultural tradition: He took up falconry after retiring.

The related adjective is falconic.
