Tripoli
North African capital
Tripoli is the capital and largest city of Libya, located on the Mediterranean coast of North Africa.
A separate Tripoli is a major city in northern Lebanon.
The name appears in historical contexts referencing the Barbary Wars, when the United States fought North African pirates: the shores of Tripoli in the Marine Corps hymn. (Lowercase tripoli is a powderyite used for polishing.)
