lessons

What experience provides

Lessons are sessions of instruction, typically scheduled and repeating: piano lessons, driving lessons.

A lesson is also something learned from experience, especially a difficult one: That failure taught me a lesson.

To teach someone a lesson is to punish them in a way meant to change their behavior.

In religious contexts, a lesson is a passage read aloud during a service.
