Greece-Turkey water boundary
The Aegean Sea is an arm of the Mediterranean Sea lying between Greece to the west and Turkey to the east, connected to the Black Sea through the Dardanelles and Sea of Marmara.
It contains numerous islands, including Crete, the Cyclades, and the Dodecanese, and was central to ancient Greek civilization and maritime trade.
The name derives from Aegeus, a mythical king of Athens.
