Anatolia
Where Turkey sits
Anatolia is the large peninsula forming the Asian portion of Turkey, bounded by the Black Sea to the north, the Mediterranean to the south, and the Aegean to the west.
Also called Asia Minor, it has been home to civilizations from the Hittites through the Byzantine Empire.
The ancient ruins of Anatolia draw archaeologists from around the world.
