Homer
Ancient epic poet
Homer is the ancient Greek poet credited with composing the Iliad and the Odyssey, foundational works of Western literature.
Whether Homer was a single historical person or a name attached to an oral tradition remains debated.
Homeric describes things relating to these epics or having their grand, heroic quality: a Homeric struggle.
Homer is also a common given name and surname. (Lowercase homer is a home run or homing pigeon.)
