Bosphorus
Europe-Asia water divide
The Bosphorus is the narrow strait in northwestern Turkey that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, separating the European and Asian parts of Istanbul.
One of the world's most strategically important waterways, it has been contested and controlled throughout history: The tanker passed through the Bosphorus at dawn.
Also spelled Bosporus.
