routes
Ways to go
Routes are paths or courses from one place to another.
A bus route connects stops along a fixed path; a trade route links commercial centers.
To route something is to send it along a particular path: They routed the cables through the ceiling.
Route can rhyme with "out" or with "boot"—both are standard.
A different word spelled the same, pronounced like "out," means to defeat decisively: The team was routed in the finals.
