parkway
Tree-lined thoroughfare
A parkway is a broad, landscaped road, often lined with trees and designed for scenic driving rather than commercial traffic.
The term originated with roads running through or alongside parks.
In American usage, parkway often names specific highways: the Garden State Parkway, the Taconic Parkway.
Despite the pastoral name, many parkways are now busy commuter routes.
