blockades
Cuts off access
Blockades are barriers or obstructions that prevent movement or access.
Military blockades use ships or troops to seal off ports or territories: The naval blockades cut off supply lines.
The term extends to any organized effort to block passage or progress: Protesters set up blockades on the highway.
To run a blockade is to evade or break through one.
