Orientation is the direction something faces or the position of something relative to its surroundings: The orientation of the house maximizes morning light.
More abstractly, it's a person's basic attitudes or inclinations—their bearings in the world.
Sexual orientation refers to the pattern of romantic and sexual attraction: gay, straight, bisexual.
An orientation is also an introductory program for newcomers: freshman orientation, new employee orientation.
To get your orientation is to figure out where you are and which way you're headed.
