aqueduct

Elevated water passage

An aqueduct is a channel or conduit built to carry water over long distances, typically from a source to a city or agricultural area.

The term often evokes the arched stone bridges the Romans built to maintain water flow across valleys: The ancient aqueduct still stands outside the city.

Any artificial channel for water transport qualifies, including modern pipelines and canals.
