pipeline
Crude's long path
A pipeline is a long tube for transporting liquids or gases over distances: an oil pipeline, a natural gas pipeline.
The word extends to any channel through which things flow in sequence.
In business, a pipeline holds deals or products in progress: We have several contracts in the pipeline.
In computing, a pipeline chains processes so output from one feeds into the next.
The verb means to transport through a pipeline or, more broadly, to channel toward a destination: The program pipelines talented students into engineering careers.
