approaches

Methods or nears

Approaches names the methods or strategies for dealing with something: different approaches to teaching, a hands-on approach.

As a verb, to approach is to move toward something in space or time: Winter approaches, The car approached the intersection.

You approach a person to initiate contact, or approach a problem to begin working on it.

Approach also means to come close to without quite reaching: temperatures approaching ninety degrees.
