routing
Directing data flow
Routing is directing something along a path or course.
In computing and telecommunications, routing determines how data travels through networks: The routing table shows which servers handle each request.
In physical contexts, routing means sending along a specified route: They're routing all calls to the main office.
Routing also refers to cutting grooves or hollowing out with a router tool.
Pronounced either to rhyme with "shouting" or with "looting."
