route

Way between places

Route is a path or course from one place to another: the shortest route to the airport, a bus route, a trade route.

It extends to any planned sequence: a route to success.

In American English, route rhymes with either "root" or "out"—both are standard.

To route is to send along a particular path: Route the cable through the wall.
