roping
Cowboy's lariat work
Roping is the cowboy skill of throwing a lasso to catch cattle or horses.
In rodeo, calf roping and team roping are competitive events testing speed and accuracy.
Figuratively, to rope someone in is to recruit or involve them, often through persuasion: They roped me into helping with the move.
Roping off an area means enclosing it with rope barriers.
