ropeway

Suspended cable transport

A ropeway is a transportation system using cables suspended between towers to carry passengers or cargo, typically across difficult terrain like mountains or valleys.

Ski lifts, aerial tramways, and gondolas are all ropeways.

The term also applies to industrial systems moving materials: The mine used a ropeway to transport ore down the mountain.
