jump rope

Double Dutch equipment

A jump rope is a length of rope with handles at each end, swung overhead and under the feet while jumping—a common children's game and exercise activity.

The term also names the activity itself: The kids played jump rope at recess.

As a verb, to jump rope is to perform this action: She jump ropes for cardio.

British English prefers skipping rope.
