leg press

Seated pushing exercise

A leg press is a weight-training exercise or the machine used to perform it.

The exerciser sits or reclines and pushes a weighted platform away using the legs, targeting the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes: I maxed out the leg press at 400 pounds.

The machine allows heavy loads with less strain on the lower back than squats.
