muscle fibers
Tissue's contracting threads
Muscle fibers are the long, cylindrical cells that make up muscle tissue.
Each fiber contracts when stimulated, and bundles of fibers working together produce the force that moves bones, pumps blood, or propels food through the digestive tract.
The injury tore several muscle fibers in his calf.
Also spelled muscle fibres.
