emperors

Rulers of realms

Emperors is the plural of emperor, a male sovereign who rules an empire—a domain larger or more powerful than a kingdom.

Historically, emperors held supreme authority over vast territories: the emperors of Rome, Chinese emperors.

The emperor penguin, the largest penguin species, takes its name from this sense of supremacy.
